jessica and tomislav [wedding photography]

My apologies in advance - this is an epic post - I had a very, very hard time narrowing down what to share today. :)

Jessica and Tomislav came halfway across the country to be married in her hometown (lucky me!), and their wedding was a mix of traditional and modern elegance - deeply fabulous! - just like them.

The amazing bride. I love this shot because of it's vintage and moody feel. Loverly.

Details, details...

On the way to the ceremony

Mr. and Mrs.! The Assumption church has the BEST light :)

Hot mamas! The bridesmaid get-ups

The bridal party was so much fun!

The dress was amazing and had a mind of its own. :)

Woork it OOOUTT! Absolutely stunning.

The portrait session was at this awesome farm on the waterfront...

First dance. I love the look on Tomislav's face. :)

The most amazing and talented Brooke sang a haunting rendition of "I Can't Help Falling in Love"

And one of my favorites from the day, in one of my favorite locations, the Patricia Theatre. Seeing as they are both entertainers, it seemed only fitting to shoot in a theatre setting. Thanks again, Anne, for having us...

Jessica and Tomislav, thank you so much for trusting me to capture you on your wedding day. I can't wait to share the rest with you and your family.

a family affair [wedding photography]

I'm not going to lie. I had my reservations about being the principal photographer at my brother's wedding, from expectations to sheer narcissism (I want to be in the photos, too!). Now, looking back, it was the perfect choice - I got to spend the entire day with him, my younger brother and sister-in-law-to-be. And that's just where I wanted to be.

Meet Drew and Andrea.

They met at University. They were introduced by their mutual friend, Sabrina, who also emceed the wedding. They went out on their first date with me as a buffer (for reals, y'all) back in 2005. They are both really tall. Like, tower-above-me-tall. And they are perfect for each other.

Here are some of my favorites from the day...

Drew getting ready

The beautiful bride

Andrea and Drew chose to see each other before the wedding - the first look

My brothers - Spencer and Drew. This is normal.

Yep. Told you she's tall. She don't need heels!

And you may now KISS THE BRIDE!

Helllloooooo bright, bright sun.

The bling. Solitaire from Tiffanys.

All the details - the juicy colour screamed SUMMER!!

We escaped the reception for some late evening light...

Back to the party - the first dance

The venue - Mayfair Lakes Golf and Country Club in Richmond, BC

I had to save the best for last. My favorite from the day:

A very big and very special thank you to Sarah from Silver Lamb Studios for coming as a second photographer for the event. Those family photos would have been near impossible without you! You can see some of her shots from the wedding on her blog.

All the best to Drew and Andrea on their honeymoon in Kauai, and I can't wait to share the rest with them when they return.

Please leave your love for my brother and new sister-in-law below!

a preview [wedding photography]

I'm still on a high from my brother's wedding yesterday, and I couldn't resist posting these.

More to come soon. Until then, congrats Drew and Andrea!

out and about [engagement photography]

As promised, here are some more of Jessica and Ricky's fab engagement session out and about in Powell River - her hometown. They were so much fun and totally HOT!

Jessica says this wall reminds her of PR.

Who doesn't love a brick wall?

They both think they're not photogenic. HELLLOOO?!? I beg to differ! Holy hot tamales! :)

Jessica worked it out - look at those eyes!

We shot in and around Marine Avenue and the Willingdon Beach area, and ended our photo session (and catch-up!) at the fabulous Bemused for dessert and coffee. Like I said, it is so flattering that a friend wanted me to shoot them - especially when they reside in the city and have a bevy of amazingly-frickin'-talented photographers to choose from there!

Jessica and Ricky - thank you thank you thank you - and I can't wait to see you again soon!

I can't get enough of this warm late evening light. It makes me all tingly-happy! More will come soon...

It's such a compliment when old friends choose me to capture them. :)
