melissa and hugo [married!]

Melissa and Hugo, simply stated, are meant to be together. Their day was a complete reflection of that and their affinity for love, simplicity and Japanese culture. Here are some of my favorites...

The details, including the handmade paper bouquet

The ceremony was at the timeless Patricia Theatre

Their ceremony included elements of a traditional Japanese wedding; here the San San Kudo where the bride and groom drink three sips from three cups of Sake (let me know if I got that right, guys!)

The vintage ride

One of my favorites from the day

Are you kidding me? Another fave.

The wedding kimono and the bling

The cake was AMAZING! I looooove the cherry blossoms and the waves

I looooooove teal!

This day simply moved me - from the calm morning prep, to Melissa's grandfather walking her down the aisle, to the incredibly personal vows - I can't say enough about Melissa and Hugo - they are fantastic, fun and amazingly in love. (Stay that way!) And a million thanks for letting me be there to capture all those amazing moments. I can't wait to share the rest with you.

anniversary [powell river weddings]

Today is my 2nd wedding anniversary, and in honor of that, I thought I would share a rarity... me IN FRONT of the camera. On my wedding day. Hamming it up. That's all I do.

amanda & david [powell river wedding photography]

There's nothing like a May wedding (I may be impartial as a May bride myself!). The weather managed to pull out all the stops as the sky broke Friday afternoon and we were completely bathed in bright sun for the entire day Saturday.

Amanda was breathtakingly beautiful. Timeless. The epitome of a gracious bride. David wasn't too bad, either. :) Here are some of my faves from the day...

Amanda, getting ready.

Helllllllloooooooo gorgeous! I couldn't resist showing Amanda this shot during our session - she told me that she was going to tear-up if I showed her any more!

This way to the ceremony... looooooove me some balloons :)

Flower girls are the cutest.

The runner says it all!

The whole group, immediately after the short and sweet ceremony

The bling.

I'm a sucker for bouquet shots. Can you blame me?

Handsome groom? Check!

Absolutely stunning. (Was it worth lying down in your dress, Amanda?)

The happy couple

And a very happy Mother's Day to Amanda! With her beautiful family:

Amanda and David - thank you for everything! All the best!

andrea's shower [party time!]

I hosted a little shower for my soon-to-be sister-in-law this weekend. I love parties. :) Mostly, I love party prep. You know, nerding-out and coming up with a theme, a colour palette, decorations, making yummy food and tasty bevvies. Andrea is the nicest - and I mean nicest! - girl. So gracious, thoughtful and giggly, which is cool.

The group... in my TINY living room.

The flowers. You can't NOT have flowers!

Cutting the cake. No, I didn't make it.

Yes, those are giant flower pom-poms. I couldn't help myself!

The congratulations banner, made to match her invites! I'm such a geek!

All in all, it was a nice afternoon, and Andrea made out like a bandit - but who doesn't at a bridal shower! I'll be coming to visit her and all her baking-domestic-goddessness soon! I can't wait for her and my brother's wedding in June!
